10 Ibadan Poly students hospitalised after inhaling poisonous gas
At least 10 students of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, have been hospitalized after reportedly inhaling a suspected poisonous gas during a fight in the institution’s Science Laboratory and Technology Department.
The incident occurred on Tuesday when a dispute between two students escalated, leading one of them to spray an unknown choking substance.
As others attempted to intervene, several students collapsed, with some losing consciousness.

The Oyo State government was immediately alerted, prompting a swift emergency response led by the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi.
The affected students were evacuated and transferred to the Ring Road State Hospital and the University College Hospital (UCH) for urgent medical attention.
Dr. Ajetunmobi confirmed that the students have been stabilized and are receiving appropriate care. Meanwhile, authorities are investigating the nature of the substance used and the circumstances surrounding the incident to prevent a recurrence.
