13-year-old twin sisters drown in Adamawa pond
A heartbreaking incident has occurred in Golantabal village, located in the Song Local Government Area of Adamawa State, where 13-year-old twin sisters lost their lives while swimming in a pond on Saturday.
The Adamawa State Police Command confirmed the tragedy to security analyst Zagazola Makama on Sunday.
According to police sources, the sisters, Hassana and Hussaina Garabiya, had gone to work on a farm earlier that day and decided to swim in a pond on their way back home around 2:30 p.m.

Authorities received a distress call around 3:50 p.m., prompting immediate action. The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) led a team to the site and worked with local divers, who managed to retrieve the bodies of the two girls.
The remains were taken to the Cottage Hospital in Song and placed in the morgue for autopsy.
Police offered their sympathies to the grieving family and advised parents and guardians to be vigilant, especially during the rainy season, and to warn children about the dangers of swimming in natural water bodies.
