The Federal Road Safety Corps says it has deployed 1,500 personnel to cover the governorship election fixed for Saturday October 10, 2020.
It also said the Corps Marshal, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi, had approved a total of 30 vehicles, including tow trucks, ambulances and other operational vehicles to be deployed to aid the electoral processes in the 18 local government areas of the state.
A statement by the Corps Public Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem, said the deployment of both personnel and vehicles was to ensure a successful, safe, peaceful and hitch-free poll.
It said the FRSC team comprised the Assistant Corps Marshal in charge of Federal Operations, ACM Hyginus Omeje, Sector Commander for the Ondo State, AT Hassan.
The Zonal Commanding Officer RS11HQ Osogbo, Assistant Corps Marshal, Godwin O. Ogagaoghene, would lead the FRSC team, according to the statement.
Kazeem said deployed personnel would ensure the enforcement of no movement order; certification of INEC vehicles to be used to convey electoral materials; removal of obstructions and rescue operations as well as joining other sister agencies to maintain orderliness at assigned polling booths.
He reported the corps marshal as urging the personnel to conduct themselves in a professional manner, carry out their duties diligently and ensure compliance with the Presidential Task Force Directives on Covid-19.
