Gunmen have attacked another community in Zamfara State, killing four people and abducting 50 residents.
The state police command said the attack was carried out at Goran Namaye town in the Maradun Local Government Area midnight of Sunday August 22.
Public Relations Officer of the Zamfara Police Command, Muhammad Shehu, who confirmed the incident on Monday, said the gunmen “came in a large number” and invaded the community.
He however said tactical operatives of the command had been deployed in the community.
He said the Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Yakubu Elkana, had ordered an immediate search and rescue operation for the victims.
Shehu added that the command was collaborating with other security agencies to maintain law and order in the area.
The Goran Namaye incident is the third reported attack in Zamfara State in the past one week.
On August 15, gunmen abducted some students and teachers at the College of Agriculture and Animal Health in Bakura LGA of the state. A police inspector and two other civilians were said to have been killed during the attack.
Five days after the school abduction, scores of residents were kidnapped during an attack on Rimi village, also in Bakura LGA.
