17-year-old boy arrested for allegedly removing sister’s eyes for money ritual
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 17-year-old boy, Auwalu Mohammad, for allegedly gouging out the eyes of his 10-year-old sister, Rukayya Mohammad, in what authorities suspect to be a ritual-related crime.
The incident occurred on October 17 in Wailo town, located in Ganjuwa Local Government Area of Bauchi State. According to police reports, the suspect lured his sister into a nearby bush under false pretenses before allegedly committing the act.
Police spokesperson SP Ahmed Wakili, in a statement issued on Monday, confirmed that the siblings’ father identified both children as biological siblings.

“Sadly, a medical specialist at the hospital confirmed that Rukayya has permanently lost her vision and will never regain her sight,” Wakili said.
The suspect reportedly confessed to the crime during interrogation. Police investigations are ongoing to determine the motive and uncover any additional individuals involved.
