Imrana Dahiru Haruna from Plateau State has emerged the overall winner of the week-long National Qur’anic Recitation Competition organised by the Jama’atul Izalatul Bid’ah Wa Ikamatu Sunnah (JIBWIS) in Dutse, Jigawa State.
Imrana got a Toyota Avensis Terso, a motorcycle, a laptop and cash prize.
With a total score of 93.3 points, he defeated four other competitors from Taraba, Bauchi, Kano and Niger states in the grand finale which was held at the state polytechnic.
Governors Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa and his Bauchi State counterpart, Bala Abdukladir Mohammed, in their separate remarks, challenged Islamic leaders to intensify prayers for peace, stability and prosperity of the country.

Badaru, who was represented by his Deputy, Namadi Umar, said the choice of Jigawa for the second time as the host for the competition was an indication of the primacy of the state as a major religious meeting point of the country.
The Bauchi governor, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Religious Affairs, Alhaji Umar Babayo, congratulated those who won in the competition and urged those who could did not win to take solace in the fact that they had the opportunity of participating in the competition.
A former Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters and founder of Al-Istiqama University, Sumaila, in Kano State, Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, urged the leader of the Izala Movement, Sheik Muhammad Sani Yahaya Jingir, to mobilise his colleague clerics to prevail on political leaders to strive to make lives meaningful to the common man.
