An 18-year-old housewife has allegedly cut off her husband’s manhood in Potiskum, Yobe State, in a shocking domestic incident that has drawn widespread attention.
The state police spokesman, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed in a statement on Saturday that the incident reportedly occurred at about 1 a.m. on February 6, but was only reported to the Potiskum Divisional Police Station around 3 p.m. the same day.
Abdulkarim said the suspect is currently at large, and police operatives promptly responded, rushing the victim to the State Specialist Hospital, Potiskum, for urgent medical care. He was later referred to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Azare, where he is currently receiving treatment.

Investigations are ongoing to track down the suspect and determine the full circumstances surrounding the attack. The police have withheld certain sensitive details to protect the victim from further trauma.
The state Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, condemned the incident, emphasizing that marriage should be based on mutual respect, understanding, patience, and tolerance.
“Marriage must never be an avenue for violence, abuse, or humiliation,” SP Abdulkarim quoted Commissioner Ado as saying.
Authorities have appealed to members of the public to provide information that may help locate the suspect. They also stressed the importance of domestic conflict intervention, mental health awareness, and peaceful resolution of household disputes to prevent such tragic incidents.
This incident highlights urgent concerns about domestic violence and safety, particularly among young couples, and has sparked calls for community support systems and early intervention mechanisms across the state.
