A source from Daddara who spoke in confidence with newsmen said he could not ascertain the number of houses destroyed “but as of Saturday, the district head of Daddara alongside a delegation from the House of Assembly member representing the area walked through the area and 160 houses were counted as they left for prayers in the evening. The House member asked them to take the inventory of the destroyed houses.
“The torrential rain lasted for seven days but the last three days, precisely between last Thursday, Friday, and Saturday was the major cause”, he added.
However, a resident, Mas’udu Lawal, cited the absence of proper drainage systems in the area as reason for the incident, noting that the blockage of a crucial drainage channel had also worsens the incident.
