Reman, Simi, Burna Boy top winners at AFRIMMA 2020

South African sensation, Master KG, emerged the biggest winner of the 2020 edition of AFRIMMA, bagging the Artist of The Year Award, Song of The Year, Best Male Southern Africa and Best Collaboration with Burna Boy on Jerusalema remix.

Rema got the award for the Best Male Act in West Africa while Simi got the female version of the same award.

Umu Ibiligbo won the award for the best African group while Mercy Chinwo got the award for Best Gospel Act.

Flavour won Best Live Act; TG Omori emerged Best Video director; Poco Lee won Best African Dancer while Burna Boy went home with the Best Collaboration and Crossing Boundaries with music awards.

It was a virtual event and the theme of the 2020 edition of AFRIMMA, the seventh edition, was given as ‘Destination Africa’.

Veteran Nollywood actor Bruno Iwuoha dies at 68

A veteran Nollywood actor, Bruno Iwuoha, died on Saturday at 68, after a prolonged battle with diabetes.

Actors Guild of Nigeria announced his death in a statement signed by its Director of Communications, Monalisa Chinda Coker.

The statement read, “It is on a sad note that we announce the passing away of our elder colleague and active member of AGN Abuja, Bruno Obinna Iwuoha.

“He died in the early hours of this morning after a prolonged battle with diabetes.

“Bruno Iwuoha hails from Ehime Mbano Local Government Area in Umunumo Umuanunu kindred, Imo state. He was aged 68 years, survived by his wife and six children.”

National President of the AGN, Ejezie Emeka Rollas, commiserated with the immediate family members, friends and fans of the deceased and prayed that God would comfort them in their moment of grief.

DMX officially announced dead after OD

Legendary rapper DMX has now been officially declared dead, a week after he fell into a coma, following a heart attack “triggered” by a drug overdose.

He was aged 50. The Westchester County native was born Earl Simmons.

The drug overdose had left him in a “vegetative state”, after his brain was deprived of oxygen for nearly 30 minutes following his OD, brain function never returned, and by Thursday his organs began failing while he remained in intensive care in  the hospital.

His death today at White Plains Hospital, in New York, was confirmed to AP by his family.

DMX is survived by 15 children.

His career  began when he catapulted to the top of the charts with his 1998 debut album “It’s Dark and Hell is Hot.”

The debut record went platinum nearly five times over and peaked at No. 1 on the US charts.
