Sunday Igboho: ACF threatens to attack Yoruba in North

Published

on

The Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, has called for an immediate stop to the attack on the Fulani in the Ibarapa area of Oyo State or face a reprisal attack on the Yoruba in the North.

The ACF, in a statement on Saturday by its National Publicity Secretary of the ACF, Emmanuel Yawe, warned that the situation could lead to another civil war if not immediately arrested.

“We recall that the civil war in the 60’s started with attacks and counterattacks like this. The governments must be proactive and stop history from repeating itself,” the statement said.

The ACF said those who carried out the attacks must be apprehended and prosecuted.

It stated, “If this is not done, there may be counterattacks in the North and the country will be up in flames. The authorities must act. The ACF is very worried and calls on them to act fast.”

It said the body received reports of an attack by Yoruba youths on the Seriki Fulani in Oyo State, Alhaji Saliu Abdulkadir.

It said in the reports, he was attacked and driven out of his house, eleven cars and his house burnt with his family members now living in the bush.

It claimed a Yoruba activist, Sunday Igboho, who issued a seven-day ultimatum to Fulani people to leave Yorubaland was the instigator of the attack.

The ACF said the most disturbing thing was that the security agents stood by helplessly as the attack was carried out.

The ACF expressed worry about the development and called on the federal and state governments in the South-West to arrest the situation to avert a major battle that could destabilise the whole country.

Gunmen suspected to be militants of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra have killed a Divisional Police Officer in Imo State, Fatmann Dooiyor, a Chief Superintendent of Police.
The slain DPO was reportedly killed while trying to repel the attack by the armed IPOB members.
Dooiyor was the DPO for Omuma at the Governor Hope Uzodimma’s community in the Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State.
The armed gang struck on the day IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, was to be arraigned at a Federal High Court in Abuja.
The Department of State Services (DSS) did not produce him in court.
According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer of Imo, CSP Mike Abattam, six of the gunmen were killed by the police while 11 were arrested.
Abattam said the bandits in convoy of three vehicles invaded the community but were repelled by police led by the Area Commander, ACP Benjamin Abang.
He said that the police were alerted when bandits were sighted moving in convoy into Omuma town.
Abattam said, “The tactical teams of the command immediately swung into action, ambushed and launched a surprised attack on the convoy of the bandits which resulted to the neutralisation of six of the bandits while, 11 of them were arrested to the station.
“Unfortunately, the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Fatmann Dooiyor paid the supreme price.
“The teams later recovered the three vehicles abandoned by the bandits to the station which includes, two Toyota Highlander SUV vehicles with registration numbers Abia MBL 517 AT and LAGOS, JJJ 984 EL respectively and a milk colour unregistered Lexus Jeep to the station.
“Presently, the command’s tactical teams and Special forces led by ACP Evans E.Shem are combing the bush for possible arrest of the bandits that fled into the bush,” the statement added.
Suspected IPOB militants had attacked the community earlier in the year.
They had killed a security guard at the residence of Uzodinma and set the building on fire.
