Presidency accuses Mbaka of demanding contracts for supporting Buhari

The Presidency says Spiritual Director of the Adoration Ministry, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, has suddenly turned against President Muhammadu Buhari having failed to secure contracts he requested as a reward for supporting the President during the 2015 and 2019 presidential elections.

This, the Presidency said, was why the Enugu-based cleric called for resignation or impeachment of Buhari.

It said this in a statement on Friday titled: ‘Father Mbaka is everything apart from what he claims to be’, which was signed by Senior Special Assistant to the President, Garba Shehu.

The presidency said, “Outsider distilling the avalanche of verbiage will be surprised that after supporting the President two times to win the Presidency, Father Mbaka has made a complete U-Turn, preposterously asking President Buhari to resign or be impeached.

“Here is the point of departure: Father Mbaka asked for a meeting and to the shock of Presidential Aides, he came accompanied by three contractors. The President graciously allowed them in, and to everyone’s surprise, Father Mbaka asked for contracts as compensation for his support.

“Anyone familiar with President Buhari knows that he doesn’t break the laid down rules in dealing with contracts or any other government business for that matter. He requested the appropriate authorities to deal with the matter in accordance with laid down rules.

“Inside the Villa, discretion prevailed, that if those pictures and requests were made public, the followers would turn against the religious leader. None of it was released. Now, this is what is eating Father Mbaka.”

The cleric said on Wednesday that God was angry with Buhari for allowing the widespread killings across the nation to fester without stopping.

He asked the National Assembly to impeach him should he fail to resign.

He had said, “I know people will say: Mbaka, did you not pray for Buhari? Did Samuel not anoint Saul? What are you talking about? Am I the creator of Buhari? God created him, Nigerians trusted him because he had done well sometimes ago. But now how can people just be dying?”

Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, has said a former governor of Lagos State and national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is under investigation.

He stated this in an interview published by ThisDay, adding that investigation does not end in a day.

He said, “You asked me a question earlier about arresting people before investigation and now you are saying why didn’t we arrest Tinubu? Why didn’t you just say ‘arrest him?’

“Investigation is ongoing. When you are investigating matters like this, they don’t end in a day. Thousands of investigations are going on on a daily basis.

“You understand? You know you are from the media; after, you will say we are doing media trial.”

Bawa was reported to have asked for Tinubu’s assets declaration form when he was the head of Lagos Zonal Office.

Meanwhile, a former Managing Director of Alpha Beta LLP, Mr Dapo Apara, has filed a suit demanding a Lagos State High Court to stop Tinubu from “controlling the finances of Alpha Beta.”
