Sound Sultan lived an exemplary life – Buhar

President Muhammadu Buhari has mourned the death of popular entertainment star Olanrewaju Fasasi aka Sound Sultan, describing it as a loss to the entire nation.

According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, Buhari noted the singer/rapper/actor lived an exemplary life, having done much to contribute to the Nigerian entertainment industry.

He recalled that Sound Sultan, during his lifetime, showed so much kindness and generosity just as he exhibited a lot of passion about issue concerning his country, as reflected in his musical works.

He, however, extended his condolences to the Fasasi family and prayed for the repose of the soul of the departed.

“President Muhammadu Buhari extends heartfelt condolences to the Fasasi family on the death of renowned singer and songwriter, Olanrewaju Fasasi, popularly known as Sound Sultan, aged 44.

“The President notes that Sound Sultan’s demise is not only a loss to the Nigerian music industry, but to the country as a whole.

“As a celebrated rapper, singer, songwriter, actor, he lived an exemplary life, achieved several milestones in his career and contributed greatly to the development of the Nigerian music and entertainment industry through his artistic genius, creativity and talent, which has inspired many young Nigerians in the industry.

“The deceased, President Buhari affirms, was kind, generous, and deeply passionate about issues in the country, which reflected in his music and art, and as an avid basketball fan, he made telling contributions to the development of local basketball in the country.

“The President prays for the eternal repose of the soul of the departed and divine peace and comfort for the family, friends and associates,” the statement reads.

Kunle Remmy speaks on Gulder Ultimate Search ahead of contestants unveiling

Nollywood actor, Kunle Remmy, has reacted to his new role as the taskmaster for the upcoming Gulder Ultimate Search.

The alumnus of GUS, in a statement, said he can’t wait for the show to debut in few weeks as organisers unveil contestants on Sunday, September 26, 2021.

“It’s going to be so big and loud, I have no doubt that the contestants are up to something big,” says Kunle, the taskmaster for GUS 12, who was also part of the regional screening that led to the selection of the 20 finalists.

Remmy has established himself as a Nollywood actor after emerging a winner of the Gulder Ultimate Search in 2010 winner. The athletic-framed actor takes over as the taskmaster from his older colleagues, Bob Manuel Udokwu, and Chidi Mokeme.

The contestants reveal for GUS 12 – ‘The Age of Craftsmanship’ will hold at a selection party in Lagos.

Organisers say more than 20,000 applicants registered for the show via the GUS portal.

They were whittled down to 20 finalists after the regional screenings held in Enugu, Lagos and Abuja and the Sea School screening in Lagos.

The screening committee will select 16 contestants from the 20 finalists, while the public will vote two to join them.

GUS returns after a seven-year hiatus, and fans went wild with comments when organisers announced its return on September 1, 2021.

Davido swears to immortalise late photographer

Singer Davido has vowed to immortalise his late personal photographer, late Fortunate Umunname Peter aka Fortune.

Fortune, who died on Tuesday, September, 21, was said to have drowned at a location in Lagos while trying to get the perfect camera angle during a shoot.

Expressing unbelief over the reality of his photographer’s demise, Davido noted he was one who was completely dedicated to serving him maximally as his page can attest to that.

The “Dem” singer wrote: “@fortunateumunname …..I can’t believe you’re gone. Since we met u never left my side for one day… Your page says it all. You really were all about me like nothing else truly mattered.”

Still expressing how surreal Fortune’s passing was seeing they still had many things they planned to do together, Davido revealed he transitioned from being just a stranger to a his close confidant in a very while adding the deceased was stuck with everywhere just to ensure he captured every moment.

He wrote: “You went from a complete stranger to one of my closest confidants within weeks. There is nowhere I entered that your lens didn’t enter. I can’t even believe I’m writing a tribute to you right now wtf we still had so much to do.”

The 30BG boss expressed regret that the deceased didn’t afford him the opportunity to fulfil the remaining of his promises to him.

Davido wrote: “Your workshops. Your studios, Trips. Shows. Scenes. Moments. all of it. I can’t believe you didn’t give me the chance to fulfil the rest of my promises to you. My heart is so heavy right now and I’m just grateful I met you.”

The father of three described his late aide as the best kid and a rare breed adding, he appreciated the fact that they were able to create iconic moments while travelling the world together.

Noting he was irreplaceable, Davido further pledged to immortalise him.

He wrote: “You are irreplaceable and you are gone but I will make sure you are never forgotten! I swear it! This next one’s for you! RIP Lil bro. Love you forever. #ForruneShotItAll.”

Davido breaks silence on photographer’s death

Davido has broken his silence on the death of his official photographer, Fortune Umunname.

In a condolence message to his late personal photographer who passed on three days ago, the award-winning singer noted that he couldn’t believe he would have to write a tribute nor lose him to death.

The 30BG leader took to his Instagram to share a picture of the late photographer, and another of himself and Fortunate together.

“Fortune @fortunateumunname ….. I can’t believe you’re gone. Since we met u never left my side. for one day… Your page says it all.

*You really were all about me like nothing else mattered. You went from a complete stranger to one of my closest confidants within weeks,” he wrote.

He went further to eulogise the late photographer saying, “There is nowhere I entered that you and your lens didn’t enter. I can’t even believe I’m writing a tribute to you right now wtf we still had so much more to do. Your workshops. Your studios. Trips. Shows. Scenes. Moments. All of it.

“I can’t believe you didn’t give me the chance to fulfill the rest of my promises to you. My heart is so heavy right now and I’m just so grateful I met you. You truly were the best kid.
