2023: Osibanjo campaigners woo Masari in Katsina

A group, under the aegis of the Progressive Consolidation Group (PCG), on Saturday stormed Government House, Katsina, to woo Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State into supporting the emergence of Vice President Yemi Osibanjo, as the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in the 2023 presidential election.

The group’s National Co-ordinator, Ahmed Mohammed, who led the delegation, told Gov. Masari that they believe Osibanjo will bring down not only tension but also facilitate unity and stability of the country.

He described the governor as one who always put the interest of the state first and one that always serves his subjects tirelessly and with patriotic dedication.

The group, which is also a pro APC group, with membership cutting across a coalition of Nigeria’s civil society organisations, non-governmental organisations, traders and representatives from the six geo-political zones, also argued that the challenges the country is contending with, demand that the party chooses the most qualified to sustain the achievements and legacies of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Addressing the governor, Mohammed said: “We have seen your good work in the educational sector, with focus on the Girl-child and Almajiri system, as well as the boost in the infrastructure and health care services by initiating and upgrading all the General Hospitals and other health centers in the state.

“We started our awareness in the area of Good Governance since March 2019, with a collective resolve to promote our great party, APC, so as to ensure that our party again produces Nigeria’s next president come 2023.”

“Looking at the extant developmental challenges that the country is contending with, it is only wise for the party to choose Professor Yemi Osibanjo as the party’s presidential candidate to sustain and improve on the positive gains, achievements and legacies of President Muhammadu Buhari”.

”Therefore, we are here before you, to seek for your support, wise counsel and advice towards accelerating the possibilities of this collective success.”

In his response, the governor advised that APC be marketed wider in a way that the electorate understand what the party has achieved so far and why the party should be re-elected come 2023.
