Ibikunle Amosun and Dapo Abiodun
An unspecified number of people, who are members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State and loyalists of a former governor of the state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, recently joined the camp of the incumbent Governor Dapo Abiodun, ahead of the 2023 general election.
Addressing the newcomers, the Senior Special Adviser on Political Affairs to Governor Abiodun, Samson Tunji Egbetokun, commended them for their decision to join the mainstream of the APC in the state and team up with the governor.
Egbetokun gave them the assurance that their interests would be taken into consideration. He appealed to other members of the party outside the mainstream to take a cue from the visitors and team up with the party, especially now that a candidate from the South-West is running for the office of president on the party’s platform.

Speaking on behalf of the newcomers, Femi Akinbile, said their action meant they had retraced their steps back to where they belonged.
He said that coming from wards with large populations, their return would significantly impact the electoral fortunes of the party.
“Please tell our members in all the wards that we are back. They should not drive us away from meetings; they should absorb us and not treat us as new members or outsiders. We are going nowhere again as we are back 100 percent,” he assured.
He lauded Governor Abiodun for his leadership style and efforts at bringing the desired development to every part of the state.
Akinbile stressed the need for unity among all members of the party, saying it would enhance and ensure the success of the party at the forthcoming general election.
