2027 Election: Forum of Former Lawmakers Endorses Tinubu for Second Term
The National Forum of Former Legislators (NFFL) has formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 general election, citing the need for policy continuity, national stability, and inclusive governance.
The endorsement was announced at a national summit in Abuja, attended by former senators and ex-members of the House of Representatives from across the country. The forum passed a vote of confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership, declaring him its preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential race.

Speaking at the event, members of the forum commended the Tinubu administration for ongoing economic reforms, infrastructure development, and efforts to stabilise Nigeria’s political environment. They argued that allowing the President to complete two constitutionally recognised terms would strengthen governance outcomes and democratic consistency.
Beyond the endorsement, the forum also renewed calls for the principle of rotational presidency to be entrenched in Nigeria’s Constitution, describing it as a key mechanism for promoting national unity, fairness, and political balance. The group maintained that zoning arrangements have helped manage Nigeria’s diversity and should be legally protected beyond informal political agreements.
The summit drew support from senior political figures, including leaders within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), who echoed the call for continuity and cautioned against early political distractions ahead of the next election cycle.
The endorsement by former lawmakers adds to a growing list of political groups and stakeholders publicly backing President Tinubu’s re-election bid, signalling early consolidation within the ruling party as preparations for the 2027 elections gradually take shape.
