2027 Election: INEC Publishes Full List of Presidential Candidates, Running Mates

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and 15 other candidates have been cleared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to contest Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election.

INEC’s final publication contains 18 presidential candidates alongside their respective running mates, setting out the field for the January 16, 2027 contest.

Tinubu will seek another term on the APC platform with Kashim Shettima as his running mate, while Atiku will contest under the ADC alongside former Rivers State governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi. Peter Obi is listed as the NDC candidate, with Musa Mohammed Rabiu as his running mate.

The list also features APM candidate Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, AAC candidate Omoyele Sowore, SDP’s Adewole Ebenezer Adebayo and PRP candidate Donald Duke.

Two women made the presidential list. They are Ada Elizabeth Frederick Okwori of the NDP and Nkem Esther Okereke of the NRM.

Four women also appear among the vice-presidential candidates: Peace Ofordile Egobia of the APP, Nafisat Usaku Abubakar of the DLA, Hajja Bintu Konto of the Labour Party and Patience Ndidi Key of the YPP.

The final document was signed by INEC Secretary Rose Oriaran-Anthony. It lists candidates from parties ranging from the AA and ADP to the PDP, SDP, YPP and ZLP.

With the presidential election fixed for January 16, 2027, the final list provides voters with the official lineup of candidates seeking the country’s highest political office.
