2027 Elections: Cubana Chief Priest Joins APC, Vows to Support Nnamdi Kanu
Nigerian socialite and entrepreneur Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has declared his intention to contest in the 2027 general elections under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying his move into politics is partly aimed at supporting Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Cubana Chief Priest made the declaration during a recent public engagement, where he announced his decision to actively participate in Nigeria’s political space, citing the need for fresh voices and bold advocacy.
According to him, his political ambition is driven by a desire to stand up for justice, represent the interests of young Nigerians, and use his influence to speak out on issues affecting the South-East region, including the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu.

The celebrity businessman stated that his choice of the APC was strategic, noting that meaningful political influence and dialogue could only be achieved from within the ruling party.
“I want to be part of the system where decisions are made. That is the only way real change can happen,” he said.
Cubana Chief Priest explained that supporting Kanu’s cause does not equate to endorsing violence or unrest, but rather advocating for dialogue, fairness, and political solutions to long-standing grievances in the region.
He added that many young people feel excluded from governance and stressed that his entry into politics would help bridge the gap between the government and the youth.
The socialite, who commands a massive following on social media, said he intends to leverage his popularity to mobilise young voters, promote political awareness, and encourage peaceful participation in the democratic process ahead of the 2027 elections.
While he did not disclose the specific office he plans to contest, Cubana Chief Priest confirmed that consultations were ongoing with political stakeholders and party leaders within the APC.
His announcement has since sparked widespread reactions across social media, with supporters praising his bold move, while critics questioned his political experience and ideological consistency.
Political observers note that his declaration reflects a growing trend of celebrities entering Nigerian politics, a development that could significantly shape voter engagement and campaign dynamics ahead of 2027.
