Atiku: Tinubu hasn’t shown reasons for re-election

A former vice president of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has said that President Bola Tinubu has failed to demonstrate who he should be re-elected for a second tenure in 2027.

Atiku was reacting to the call by the Secretary of the State Government, George Akume, who urged Nigerians to be patient with Tinubu as he means well for citizens.

Akume had also urged all northern politicians including Atiku to shelve every ambition to run for presidency until 2031 as he believes Tinubu will be re-elected due to his “good works”.

However, in a statement posted on X, Paul Ibe, a media aide to the former vice president said it is the people who have the power to elect their leaders.

He said, that the President Tinubu led administration has failed to prove itself worthy of re-election by the people.

His words, “In any case, the power to elect and vote out their government lies firmly with the Nigerian people, entrusted to them upon the government’s ability to prove itself worthy of the people’s ballot.

“But has the Tinubu government demonstrated that it deserves to be re-elected? The answer, alas, is as clear as the heavens themselves – God forbid!” The statement on X said.
