Armed men suspected to be bandits on Tuesday killed seven police officers at Zonai village located within the Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The incident occurred on Tuesday when the gunmen opened fire on a team of policemen leaving at least seven cops dead,
According to residents, the officers were returning from duty where they had mounted, a checkpoint near Zonai village along Gusau-Magami-Dansadau following frequent attacks on the community.
The Zamfara State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Muhammad Shehu, was unable to speak on the incident when contacted. He said, “I will call you back later”.
