3-year-old twins found dead after Florida mom’s suicide attempt
A father has revealed his anguish after his twin daughters were found dead and foaming at the mouth inside an SUV, after their mother attempted suicide.
The tragic episode enfolded Friday morning in Miami, United States, when twins Milendhere Gabriel Napoleon Cadet and Milenjhit Gabriella Napoleon Cadet, aged just three, were found shortly before 2am, after their mother, Shirlene Alcime, 42, flung herself over a nearby overpass.
First responders rushed to the scene after bystanders found the girls, who were pronounced dead after they were transported to Jackson North Medical Center.
Their devastated father Milson Caldet, speaking Haitian Creole, wept as he talked of his children’s sudden passing, adding: ‘I really loved my kids.’
It is believed that Alcime attempted to commit suicide by leaping over a bridge onto train tracks below, leaving her children inside her car.
Police have not indicated if they suspect she purposefully killed her daughters before the suicide attempt.
Despite the significant distance between the bridge and train tracks, Alcime survived and was rushed to a nearby hospital.
She is listed in critical condition, and local reports noted that she was in a coma.

A friend of the mother said her actions ‘weren’t at all like her’, and Caldet said he had no idea what happened after failing to reach Alcime for several days.
Speaking through a translator, the father said: ‘I went to the office, I called her, but she never picked up… that’s not the kind of person she is.’
He described his daughters as fun and excitable young children, and said: ‘Normally when I come in the door, they come and they hug me. I can’t, really, I can’t talk right now.’
Alcime’s friend, Suzette Walker Morant, said she was stunned to hear of the tragedy, which was unlike the woman she knew to be a loving mother.
‘That is not her, there has to be something wrong with her to do something like that,’ she said.
‘The person I know would never do anything like that. That’s really sad to know the kids lost their lives so young, for she is not that kind of person.
‘It is just so mind-boggling right now to figure out what really went wrong.’
Police said the investigation remains active.
‘Right now, our investigators are working to piece this tragic incident together,’ said Miami-Dade Police Department Detective Andre Martin.
‘There are many, many questions that they have that they’re working to find the answers to.’
