At least30 houses have been burnt down in a communal clash between Ipav and Yandev communities in the Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State.
The clash between the two communities in Gboko, which started on Saturday over a minor argument, continued up until Sunday morning.
Also set ablaze are worship houses while economic tress such as oranges, mangoes and cashews were cut down by the warring communities.
The crisis was said to have started over a disputed land between Mbakpegh of Ipav and Mbatur of Yandev communities at the bank of a stream called Amboor.
Governor Samuel Ortom, who sent the Secretary of State (SSG) Professor Tony Ijohor and Security Advisor Col. Paul Hemba (retd) appealed to all parties involved in the dispute to keep off the land until the matter is resolved.
A detachment of mobile police team had been deployed to the area as at press time.
