4 killed, 8 injured in Gombe Easter Monday road accident
The Gombe State Police Command on Monday, April 21, reported a deadly road accident in Billiri, Gombe State, that claimed at least four lives, with eight others currently undergoing medical treatment.
The tragic incident took place on Easter Monday as Christian worshippers were returning from a symbolic mountain climb commemorating the encounter with Jesus Christ in Galilee.
Police spokesperson Buhari Abdullahi, while confirming the accident, stated that, “Four died, two males and two females.

“Eight victims were taken to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, and the General Hospital, Billiri, where they are recovering.”
AnA witness, who chose to remain unnamed, recounted the event, said, “As the people, mostly youths and children, were descending from the mountain, a truck loaded with grains heading towards Gombe ploughed into them, crushing many to death.”
The incident triggered widespread anger as enraged youths torched the truck and marched to the Divisional Police Headquarters, demanding the driver’s release.
In response, a joint security task force was deployed to maintain order and prevent further unrest.
