The headquarters of the Nigeria Immigration Service on Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport Road, Abuja has been gutted by fire.
The fire, which occurred on Sunday morning, had destroyed some of the NIS offices before it was later put out.
According to the NIS, personnel of the Federal Fire Service and other sister organisations around the airport assisted those at its fire station to put out the fire.
The service, which disclosed this on its twitter handle, @nigimmigration, said, “A fire incident occurred in our service headquarters this morning. It affected some of our offices.
“The fire has been put out by our Federal Fire Service and support from other agencies around the airport.
“The cause of the fire is being investigated. We assure the public that the incident will not in any way affect the discharge of our services.”
