In addition to the newly rescued individuals, 11 more girls were earlier rescued and are currently in the care of NIDO BOT Chairman and the Acting Nigerian High Commissioner in Ghana, Ambassador Ifedayo Adeoye. These 11 girls have already been repatriated back to Nigeria.

The statement also mentioned that some of the suspected agents involved in the trafficking have been apprehended and handed over to security agencies and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for profiling and prosecution.

Dabiri-Erewa commended NIDO Ghana, the Acting Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, and Ghanaian law enforcement agencies for their cooperation.

The rescued women and children are returning to Nigeria, where they will be properly profiled and counselled by NAPTIP. They will then be reunited with their families and rehabilitated by their respective state governments.
