How three Ghanaians forged CAC documents – Police
How three Ghanaians forged CAC documents – Police
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has concluded its investigation into an alleged corporate fraud involving three Ghanaians Samuel Jonah, Kojo Ansah, and Victor Quainoo, and a Nigerian accomplice, Abu Arome.
The suspects were accused of orchestrating a scheme to fraudulently take control of Jonah Capital Nigeria Limited and its associated interests in Houses for Africa Nigeria Limited and River Park Estate.
According to company records, Mr. Adrian Ogunmuyiwa and his wife, Olabito Ogunmuyiwa, established Jonah Capital Nigeria Limited in 2006 with an initial share value of one million. The couple reportedly agreed to allocate 400,000 shares to Samuel Jonah, conditional on his funding contribution to company projects.
Barrister Wilson Shittu-Manli, who worked with the company during its incorporation in 2006, stated that Jonah had relinquished his shares by December 2007 following a shareholders’ agreement.
He explained, “There is an agreement between the parties, which is the shareholder agreement. Dr Ogunmuyiwa and his wife incorporated that company and then promised to allocate 400,000 shares to Samuel Jonah provided he provides funds for the project.
“As of December 2007, Jonah had relinquished his shares in Jonah Capital and was no longer a member of that company by the shareholders’ agreement (having failed to fund the company). Sometime in 2024, Samuel Jonah reappeared and signed this document as a director alongside his brother Kojo Mensa.
“By implication, the authorized share capital of the company was then increased to 100 million by the creation of an additional 99 million, and further allocated the shares to him. This is somebody who had ceased to be a director.

“Abu Arome went ahead and acted as the company secretary, increasing the shareholding to 100 million.
“On that same day, they removed Adrian Ogunmuyiwa and Olabito Ogunmuyiwa (wife) as directors while Kojo Mensa, Samuel Jonah and Victor Kwena replaced them.
“The document that predicts all these was forged. Those whom they claimed signed it never did, in fact, the registered address of the company, none of them, were in Nigeria.
“For you to register as a director in a company, you must indicate your nationality. These individuals are Ghanaians and they indicated they are Nigerians. Which is criminal and illegal,” Shittu-Manli noted.
At a press briefing in Abuja, Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said investigations confirmed that the alleged acquisition of funds in Houses for Africa Nigeria Limited was invalid and obtained under false pretenses.
The police statement came in response to a restraining suit filed by the three Ghanaians against the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), seeking to prevent any law enforcement action related to the River Park Estate dispute.
The suspects had sought a perpetual injunction restraining the Police and EFCC from inviting, intimidating, harassing, arresting, or detaining them over issues arising from agreements dated June 1, 2012, and July 13, 2012, which are central to ongoing investigations of forgery and conspiracy.
Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja, in a ruling, restrained the Inspector-General, the Commissioner of Police FCT Command, Ajao Saka Adewale, and other parties from taking steps that may pre-empt the court’s decision.
The Ghanaian businessmen also argued that after several sittings, a Special Investigative Panel (SIP) had concluded its report, cleared them of wrongdoing, and forwarded the findings to the IGP, who in turn directed the Commissioner of Police, Legal, to review the case for any criminal or triable offences.
They further demanded N200m in damages through their legal counsel.

Responding to these claims, Adejobi said, “The accused parties have since mounted a coordinated misinformation campaign, falsely claiming they have been exonerated by the Special Investigative Panel (SIP) set up by the Nigeria Police Force.
“This is categorically false. The same Panel in paragraph 5.8 of its reports recommended that the case file be forwarded to the Force Legal Department for vetting and the IG Monitoring Unit should retain custody of the files pending further directive.
“These recommendations do not in any way exonerate the suspects but rather pave the way for continued action and possible prosecution based on subsequent findings, which are now conclusive and confirmed.”
Adejobi further stated that under Nigerian law, fraud invalidates consent, making any contract or corporate decision resulting from fraud null and void.
“Therefore, the legitimate ownership of Houses for Africa Nigeria Limited and its subsidiary rights in River Park Estate remains with Paulo Homes Limited under the leadership of Mr. Paul Odili who lawfully acquired 8 million shares through a valid and fully executed agreement with the original co-owners Dr. Adrian Ogunmuyiwa and Mr. Jones Johnson,” he said.
According to the police, the suspects have repeatedly ignored lawful summons, filed multiple lawsuits, and held press conferences accusing senior police investigators of bias—claims the Force described as baseless and aimed at obstructing justice.
“What we are dealing with is not a civil business disagreement nor a party misunderstanding. This is a criminal case that goes to the very heart of Nigeria’s corporate integrity and institutional security,” Adejobi said.
He added, “The deliberate misrepresentation of false identities and documents to infiltrate and manipulate institutions such as the Corporate Affairs Commission is not only criminal but deeply injurious to national sovereignty. No country will tolerate criminal exploitation of its legal system, and Nigeria will not be the exception.”
The police said investigations have now been fully concluded and prosecution will proceed on charges including corporate fraud, forgery, criminal conspiracy, breach of trust, impersonation, criminal trespass, and attempted obstruction of justice.
“Mr. Abu Arome who falsely acted as Corporate Secretary to Jonah Capital Nigeria Limited will also be charged for impersonation, having been found to have no lawful appointment to that office. He was instrumental in unauthorised shareholding changes that occurred between 2024 and 2025,” Adejobi added.

Police vow to arrest killers of 10 officers slain in Kebbi gun battle
The Nigeria Police Force has intensified efforts to track down the armed criminals responsible for the killing of 10 police officers in Kebbi State, assuring the families of the fallen personnel that the Force will not relent until those behind the attack are brought to justice.
The officers, who were serving with the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) and other tactical formations, were killed on August 10, 2026, during a fierce encounter with suspected bandits along the Rafin Makuku axis of Sakaba Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
According to the police, the confrontation began at about 9:25 a.m. when security operatives intercepted a heavily armed group reportedly moving between Zamfara and Kebbi states.
The encounter developed into a prolonged exchange of gunfire, resulting in the deaths of 10 police officers. Two other officers were injured, while two civilians were also killed during the incident.
The police, however, said the operation inflicted significant casualties on the attackers. According to the Force, 17 suspected bandits were neutralised, while four motorcycles used by the group were destroyed.
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, expressed grief over the deaths and described the fallen personnel as officers who paid the ultimate price while performing their constitutional duty of protecting lives and property.

Disu assured the families and colleagues of the deceased officers that their sacrifice would not be forgotten and pledged that the police would pursue those responsible for the attack.
“We shall not be intimidated, we shall not relent, and we shall not allow the sacrifices of our fallen heroes to be in vain,” the IGP said.
The police leadership also moved to strengthen security operations in the affected communities following the attack. A delegation led by Deputy Inspector-General of Police Umar Shehu Nadada visited Kebbi State to engage the state government and assess measures required to prevent further attacks.
During the visit, Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris expressed condolences over the death of the officers and pledged government support for their families.
The governor also reaffirmed the state’s commitment to supporting security agencies in their efforts to protect communities and counter banditry and other violent crimes.
The police delegation assured the state government that operations would be intensified to identify, track and apprehend members of the criminal group responsible for the attack.
As part of efforts to improve security in the state, the police also announced plans to establish a police squadron in Kebbi. The proposed formation is expected to increase police presence and strengthen the Force’s capacity to respond to security threats, particularly in vulnerable areas.
The deadly confrontation has once again highlighted the security challenges along the Kebbi-Zamfara axis, where armed groups have continued to exploit remote communities and difficult terrain.
The police have vowed to sustain operations in the affected area and prevent the attackers from regrouping after the encounter.
The Force also stressed the importance of cooperation between security agencies, state governments and local communities, particularly through timely intelligence sharing that could help security personnel detect and disrupt criminal activities.
For the families of the 10 officers killed in the line of duty, the incident represents a devastating loss. For the Police Force, the deaths have reinforced its determination to confront armed criminal groups and protect communities across the country.
The IGP maintained that the police would continue to pursue the perpetrators and ensure that those responsible for attacks on security personnel and civilians are brought to justice.
