Ned Nwoko calls for wife Regina Daniels’ rehabilitation over drug concerns
ABUJA — Senator Ned Nwoko has called for his embattled wife and actress, Regina Daniels, to undergo rehabilitation, citing concerns over her alleged substance use and deteriorating health.
Speaking in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Abuja, Nwoko said the move was necessary to safeguard her life and ensure she was mentally fit to raise their two children.
The lawmaker explained that his position followed what he described as a series of alarming toxicology results, which showed high levels of drugs in her system.
“I want her alive and healthy, not just for me but for our children,” Nwoko said. “We have two young kids together, and they cannot fight for themselves. I’m going to fight for them by safeguarding their mother.”
He said his wife’s calm disposition had recently changed, alleging that she now displayed violent and destructive behaviour amid recurring health crises.
According to him, enrolling her in a rehabilitation programme would help her recover and restrict her access to harmful substances.

“Many people have died of drug overdose. If anything happens to her now, what will I tell her children tomorrow? I have lived with this problem for eight good months, and on three occasions, I had to carry her to Nizamiye Hospital unconscious from a drug overdose — and you can go and verify it,” he claimed.
Nwoko, who presented some of the alleged toxicology results to journalists, said anyone advising the actress against rehabilitation was not acting in her best interest.
He described recent social media denials by Regina’s mother and siblings as “baseless distractions,” insisting that his wife and her family were “living in denial.”
“If her mother and those supporting her really want to prove me wrong, let them arrange for her to visit any toxicologist of their choice — I will pay,” he added.
The senator also addressed public reactions to the controversy, saying that his wife’s siblings, particularly her brother Sammy, had negatively influenced her and contributed to her alleged addiction.
“Her close relations and friends that I trusted around her are the ones exploiting her resources to supply her with drugs, leaving her addicted,” he said. “Each time progress is made, they undo it by smuggling in the same drugs she was trying to give up.”
Nwoko further dismissed a recent claim by Regina’s mother, Rita Daniels, alleging that his late son died from drug overdose, describing it as an “inhuman attack” on the dead.
He said no autopsy had ever linked his son’s death to drug-related complications.
The couple’s marital crisis became public after Regina Daniels accused Nwoko of domestic abuse and announced her decision to quit the marriage. The senator, however, denied the allegation and attributed her behaviour to substance abuse.
