The police command in Delta says it recovered weapons from suspected kidnappers in Agbarho community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s spokesman, SP Bright Edafe, told journalists on Friday in Warri that the police had launched a manhunt for the fleeing suspects.
He said the weapons concealed in a sack were recovered by police operatives attached to the Agbarho division following an intelligence report.
The police spokesperson identified the weapons as three AK-49 rifles, two AK-47 rifles, and 207 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition.
“The divisional police officer (DPO), Agbarho Division, CSP Josephine Ekebuike, led a police operative into the bush on Thursday.

“The operation followed an intelligence report by a concerned vigilante member on the hideout of some suspected kidnappers that have been terrorising Ughelli, Agbarho, Warri, Sapele and environs in the bush, at Uwurghelli village by the rail tracks.
“They cordoned off the entire area and carried out an intensive search, during which hidden sacks were sighted in the bush.
“Upon searching the bags, three AK-49 rifles, two AK-47 rifles, and 207 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition were recovered,” he said.
Mr Edafe said the commissioner of police (CP) in the command, Abaniwonda Olufemi, while commending the DPO and the operatives, urged the public to continue to partner with the police by providing useful information.
He quoted the CP as assuring the command’s readiness to act promptly on credible information it received to nip crime in the bud.
The spokesman said the CP warned residents to shun all unlawful activities, declaring that he would leave no stone unturned in fishing out criminal elements from the state.

She works five days a week like I do, and she matches my strength in every category.” His remarks resonated with many online users, who saw them as a celebration of mutual respect and partnership within modern marriages.

The video drew parallels with other recent clips of family appreciation moments, such as a UK‑based Nigerian mother and her children kneeling to thank their father for his sacrifices, which also went viral online and generated positive reactions from viewers. Many who shared the husband’s post applauded his emphasis on equality, noting that the video underscored the importance of recognising both partners’ contributions in a marriage. Others said the clip sparked wider conversations about how love and gratitude are expressed in immigrant families navigating work, sacrifice, and cultural identity abroad.
Social‑media users also linked the video to other trending family posts — including moments where wives celebrated their husbands’ achievements and offered heartfelt public tributes — showing a growing trend of relationship appreciation content online.
Experts on family dynamics say these viral videos reflect deeper conversations about gender roles, appreciation, and partnership in modern relationships. They suggest that while cultural rituals around kneeling or other gestures vary, what resonates most with viewers is the sentiment behind the act — love, gratitude, and mutual respect.
“For those wondering, with all the work my wife mentioned that I do, what exactly does she do? My wife does a whole lot. She works five days a week like I do, and she matches my strength in every category.”

Gunmen Kill 25, Burn Homes in Twin Adamawa Village Attacks
Gunmen Kill 25, Burn Homes in Twin Adamawa Village Attacks
At least 25 people have been killed and dozens of homes set ablaze after gunmen launched coordinated late-night attacks on two villages in Adamawa State, residents and the state government confirmed. The deadly raids occurred in Kirchinga (Madagali LGA) and Garaha (Hong LGA), communities on the fringes of the Sambisa Forest, a known stronghold for Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers struck late Tuesday night, disguising themselves in military uniforms, which initially deceived residents into thinking the men were troops on patrol. In Kirchinga, the gunmen opened fire indiscriminately, killing 18 residents and burning homes. Villagers described a scene of chaos and terror, with many fleeing into forests and neighbouring towns for safety.

In Garaha, gunmen on over 50 motorcycles stormed the village and attacked a nearby military base, killing three soldiers. Seven civilians were killed, including four shot while attempting to escape. A school building was also set on fire, leaving the community devastated and prompting many residents to flee to Mubi, the nearest major town.
The attacks highlight the persistent insecurity in northeastern Nigeria, the epicentre of a 17-year Islamist insurgency, despite sustained military operations. Analysts note the tactics used — military disguises, coordinated assaults, and targeting both civilians and security posts — are consistent with Boko Haram and ISWAP operations, emphasizing the need for improved intelligence, rapid response, and local protection measures.
Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri condemned the attacks as “cowardly acts of terrorism”, pledging that militants will not be allowed to undermine efforts to restore peace and stability. The governor assured that security agencies are investigating the incidents and that victims’ families will receive support and assistance.
Residents and community leaders described the attacks as devastating, with displacement, property loss, and fear gripping the affected villages. Security analysts warn that without enhanced military operations and community policing, rural communities near forest strongholds will continue to be at risk.

A tragic incident has rocked Taraba State following the death of five children and the hospitalisation of eight others after a case of suspected food poisoning in Takum, headquarters of Takum Local Government Area.
The Taraba State Police Command confirmed the incident on Wednesday, stating that the children reportedly fell ill after consuming suspected poisoned meat during a Ramadan lecture held in the town on Tuesday. The victims were said to be from three different families.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Victor Mshelizah, the children began experiencing sudden and severe illness shortly after the meal, prompting residents to rush them to nearby hospitals. Despite medical intervention, five of the children were pronounced dead, while eight others are currently receiving treatment.
Police authorities have commenced a full-scale investigation to determine the exact cause of the suspected poisoning, with detectives working alongside health officials to establish whether the incident resulted from food contamination, negligence, or deliberate poisoning.
