Dr. Geidam Bulama,
The Principal Medical Director of Gubio General Hospital, Borno State, Dr. Geidam Bulama, who was abducted March 2022 by the Islamic State of the West African Province (ISWAP), has been released.
Bulama was abducted last year, when ISWAP attacked Gubio Local Government Area which is about 70kms from Maiduguri.
According to a report, Zagazola Makama, a Counter- Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst in the Lake Chad Region, reported that during the abduction of Bulama, the insurgents had promised his wife that they would not kill him.

Shortly after Bulama was released he was moved to Maiduguri where he was reunited with his family.
Before he was abducted last year, Bulama was the only doctor covering the entire Gubio Local Government Area. “It is very unfortunate that the security situation in Gubio town is deteriorating these days, as we have started witnessing Boko Haram invasion without confrontation,” a resident disclosed shortly after the abduction of Bulama.
