Adamu speaks on resignation, says he awaits Tinubu’s return
Senator Abdullahi Adamu has reacted to his reported resignation as national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Adamu was said to have sent his resignation letter to the Chief of Staff of the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, around 4pm on Sunday.
He reportedly bowed out over many issues which included his non-support for President Bola Tinubu during the presidential campaign.
Adamu on Monday morning was quoted by Daily Trust as saying he would wait for the return of President Bola Tinubu from the African Union AU meeting in Kenya.
“I won’t talk about the issue because the President is away,” Adamu said.

National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma, were said to have told Adamu that if he failed to resign, they would remove him at the party’s next NEC meeting holding on Tuesday (tomorrow).
The APC NEC meeting was initially billed to hold July 10 and 11 but was postponed till Tuesday and Wednesday this week due to the President Tinubu’s international engagements.
Those calling for Adamu’s resignation accused him of publicly supporting former Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, and failing to fully back Tinubu even after securing the party’s ticket.
Adamu was also accused of mismanaging the party’s funds.
