Ade.Ojo country home Ilara-Mokin to host 2026 Business Network Golf Tournament

Ade.Ojo country home Ilara-Mokin to host 2026 Business Network Golf Tournament

Ilara-Mokin, the country home of Nigeria’s auto industry icon and Chairman of Elizade Motors, Chief Michael Ade-Ojo, will play host to the 2026 Business Network Golf Tournament scheduled for February 21 at the Smokin Hills Golf Resort, Ondo State.

The tournament, sponsored by Bode Adediji Partnership and Kontinental Developers Limited, is expected to bring together business leaders, professionals and artisans from across Nigeria and beyond for a blend of sport, networking and leisure.

Speaking ahead of the event, the sponsor and renowned estate surveyor and valuer, Bode Adediji, said the tournament was conceived as a modest contribution to the development of sports, particularly golf, which he described as a strong indicator of socio-economic advancement.

According to him, there is a clear relationship between the growth of golf, the availability of infrastructure and the overall development of a nation. He noted that countries where golf thrives, including the United States, Japan, China, South Korea and Italy, are also nations with strong economic and infrastructural foundations.

Adediji explained that beyond competition, the tournament is designed to highlight the role of leisure and recreation management in business growth and professional development globally. He said golf provides a unique platform for interaction, strategic thinking and relationship-building among business and professional communities.

On the choice of venue, Adediji described the Smokin Hills Golf Resort, developed by Chief Ade-Ojo, as one of Nigeria’s finest golfing destinations.

The 18-hole course, located about 20 minutes from Akure, the Ondo State capital, is the first and only golf facility in the cocoa-producing state and sits within the university town of Ilara-Mokin.

He added that the course’s aesthetic appeal, challenging layout and modern facilities have earned it comparisons with the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja, and the Le Meridien Ibom Golf Resort, Uyo—widely regarded as Nigeria’s most world-class golf courses.

With Elizade University located nearby, Adediji noted that the resort and its surroundings are well-positioned to host major tournaments and events, while remaining accessible and enjoyable for both professional golfers and casual players.

He said the 2026 Business Network Golf Tournament would further place Ilara-Mokin on the national sporting and business map, reinforcing its growing reputation as a hub for leisure, learning and high-level networking.
