Ade.Ojo denies selling Ikoyi collapsed building land to Osinbajo

Founder of Elizade Motors and Elizade University, Ilara Mokin, Ondo State, Chief Michael Ade.Ojo, has debunked the report of selling the land on which the Ikoyi collapsed building was built to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

In a statement he personally signed and made available to Newstrends, Ade-Ojo said he owns the land adjacent to the property in question on Gerald Road, Ikoyi, and was was never a time he owned the land on which the collapsed building was constructed.

The high-rise building came down on Monday morning and over 30 people have been confirmed dead and nine others rescued from the rubble. Already, the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has set up a six-member panel to investigate what went wrong and to submit their report within 30 days.

SaharaReporters, in an exclusive report, had linked Vice President Osinbajo to the Ikoyi collapsed building which had killed over 40 persons, including the developer, Femi Osibona, with a yet-to-be-ascertained number of persons still trapped beneath the rubble.

According to the online newspaper, the landed property was bought by Osinbajo from Chief Michael Ade-Ojo, founder of Elizade Motors (Elizade Nigeria Limited) shortly after he became the Vice President.

“Osinbajo is linked to the property, that house that collapsed on Monday in Lagos State. I was aware when he got the landed property from Elizade. A woman was selling food at the place before, that was where all workers and labourers working around here do eat,” a facility manager told SaharaReporters.

But Ade.Ojo, in the statement signed on Thursday, denied the report by Saharareporters that he sold the land to the VP.

Although he admitted owing the next property to the crumbled building, he stressed that he has no intention of selling it.

He said, “Both claims are outright falsehoods. I hereby state that I do not own and never held title to the said property,

“In addition, I did not sell any land to the Vice President at anytime whatsoever. To be clear I own a property next to the said building, which I have not sold and do not intend to sell to anyone.”
