Gunmen stormed a burial ceremony in Ndingbu village, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, on Friday, abducting one person.
Daily Trust gathered that in Friday’s attack, the gunmen targeted vigilante operatives who were at the ceremony to provide security for the mourners.
A source in the community said the gunmen also went to Utuh community in the same local government area, where they attacked an office used by vigilante operatives.
According to the sources, the gunmen set ablaze the vigilante’s office and abducted one person.
Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the attacks, but did not go into details.

According to Ikenga, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng, has ordered a manhunt for the armed men.
He also said that the police were already in the area, adding that normalcy had been restored.
“Although no notification was given to the Police about the planned burial, information reveals that the vigilante groups were invited.
“Further details received showed that the miscreants arrived at the ceremony and started shooting sporadically in an attempt to disarm the vigilante operatives.
“In another development, the hoodlums also attacked Utuh vigilante office, abducted one of the staff and set the vigilante operation vehicle on fire,” he said.
