Many suspected kidnappers and armed robbers have reportedly escaped from detention at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Benin, Edo State capital.
Some policemen were said to have helped the suspects to escape from the CID detention on Sunday.
Already, some of the policemen have been reportedly arrested on the orders of the Commissioner of Police, Kokumo Johnson, and they expected to face orderly room trial.
Recently, some inmates had escaped from the Sapele and Oko correctional centres after hoodlums hijacked the #EndSARS protest last year.
The police promised to issue a statement on Sunday on the latest escape, but it has yet to do so.
A resident, Oboh Beatrice, who expressed shock, said, “This is a very serious issue that must not be swept under the carpet.”
