Ahmed Musa Retires from Super Eagles After 15 Years
Super Eagles captain and Nigeria’s most capped international, Ahmed Musa, has officially announced his retirement from the national team, drawing the curtain on a 15-year illustrious career in the green and white jersey.
Musa made the announcement on Wednesday via his verified social media platforms, reflecting on a journey that began when he earned his first Nigeria national team call-up at 17 and rose to become one of the country’s most celebrated footballers.
“I wore this badge with pride for 15 years. From a 17-year-old boy answering every call to becoming the most capped Super Eagle with 111 appearances,” Musa said.

During his international career, Musa won the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and carved his name into history as Nigeria’s highest goalscorer at the FIFA World Cup. He also captained the Super Eagles, earning widespread respect for his leadership, discipline and commitment on and off the pitch.
Describing his bond with the national colours, Musa referred to himself as a “Captain. Servant. Believer,” stressing that he gave his all in service to the nation.
“I gave everything. Thank you, Nigeria… my heart will always beat green,” he added.
