Benue State Channel’s reporter, Pius Angbo, and his wife, Dr Ifeyinwa, are back together after the state governor, Samuel Ortom, has reportedly intervened in the differences between the couple.
On Sunday, Ifeanyinwa had recorded a video of her battered face and said that her husband physically abused her because she advised him not to spend recklessly on other women.
She had said in between sobs, “Hello people, my name is Ifeyinwa. I am a doctor. I have been married to Pius Angbo of Channels TV for six years and for six years, I have not known peace in this marriage. It’s been from one woman to another. I just had a baby. It was a Caesarean section just about four weeks ago. Just because I told him to spend wisely and not on women so recklessly considering we have four children, that is why I got this beating.”
But Governor Ortom reportedly met with the couple on Monday and advised them on the need to settle their differences amicably and shun the temptation of engaging in violence.
He noted that as a young couple with great potential, the husband being a versatile journalist and the wife a medical doctor, there was the need for them to foster a strong union to serve as models to others.
Pius Angbo said he had apologised to his wife over the assault on her, stressing that he also sought the forgiveness of the entire women folk and would make amends going forward.
On her part, Dr Angbo said she had accepted her husband’s apology and forgiven him, adding their children are still young and they needed prayers to grow stronger in love and nurture their kids to maturity.
She thanked the governor for taking time out to make peace between them, saying his intervention was fatherly and a demonstration of love for them.
