Lamor Miller-Whitehead, a flamboyant pastor based in New York, United States of America, was robbed of jewellery worth more than a million dollars by armed thieves while he was delivering a sermon on July 24.
According to CNN, Miller-Whitehead was at his Leaders of Tomorrow International Ministries in Brooklyn when three armed robbers walked in, flashed guns and demanded personal effects, including jewellery, from him and his wife.
In a video which captured part of the reported incident, one of the robbers was seen pointing a gun at Miller-Whitehead while walking towards the pulpit.
The preacher instantly went down on his hands and knees. It was at this point that the robber collected the jewellery from Miller-Whitehead and shoved it into his pocket.
The pastor would later post another video saying the robbers ripped his collar off to snatch the chain from his neck. He also claimed one of them pointed a gun at his infant daughter while stealing his wife’s jewellery.
Neither of Miller-Whitehead, 44, and DosReis-Whitehead, his 38-year-old wife, was physically injured, police said. Their daughter was also unharmed.
The pastor was reported to have offered a $50,000 reward for information that might lead to the arrest of the robbers.
