Annie Macaulay: I hope my daughter doesn’t repeat my mistakes

Media personality Annie Macaulay has shared heartfelt reflections on her life’s journey, expressing hopes that her daughter will learn from her experiences.

In an Instagram post, she wrote, “I hope my daughter doesn’t accept things I’ve accepted, that she knows her worth from the start and knows that no matter what, she always has me in her corner.”

Annie also celebrated her hard-won peace and happiness, noting that she had endured and overcame battles unseen by many.

“If you see me happy these days, let me be. I fought battles you’ll never know just to feel this free,” she added.

Her reflections come against the backdrop of her very public split from Nigerian music icon 2Face Idibia, whom she married in 2012.

The marriage, which had long been a subject of public scrutiny, finally collapsed earlier this year after 2Face confirmed their separation and ongoing divorce proceedings.

Since then, Annie has reintroduced herself on the public stage as a single woman, famously dropping the “Idibia” surname at the 2025 Headies Awards while describing her daughters as her “backbone.”

Meanwhile, 2Face has moved on with Natasha Osawaru, the Deputy Majority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly following their marriage.

Ann who underscored the importance of growth and resilience in the post, added that, “I don’t revisit what I healed from. Every wound she ever survived became another jewel in her crown.”

According to her, she wants to enjoy this newfound happiness without interference, stating that she’s fought battles that others may not be aware of.

She emphasised the importance of moving forward rather than dwelling on past hurts.

She added that her focus is now on personal growth and viewing past wounds as experiences that have contributed to her strength and resilience.

“I don’t revisit what I healed from. Every wound she ever survived became another jewel in her crown”, she said.
