Ansar-ud-deen Surulere old students to redesign school park green area, makes donations
Good times are here again for Ansar-ud-deen Grammar School, Surulere, Lagos as its Old Students’ Association has commenced plans to redesign the green area in front of the college’s car park and install gazebos there.
Also, the association has made donations of vital items to the school and medical materials to a nearby general hospital among others as part of its efforts at giving back to the society, improving academic performance and healthcare of the people in the area.
These were disclosed at the 40th graduation anniversary of Chapter 1979/84 by the Chairman, Central Planning Committee, Abdulwasiu Kehinde.
The event was held in Lagos on Saturday June 22.
He said, “Plan is also ongoing to redesign the green area in front of the school’s car park and replace it with a gazebos (a sitting area) where students and other stakeholders can relax.
“Apart from serving as a relaxation spot for the students in particular and other stakeholders in general, the gazebos, when completed, will raise the aesthetic value of the school a notch higher.”
On the donated items, Kehinde said, “We had made a symbolic visit to Randle General Hospital where some medical items were donated.”
He also spoke on a career talk for SS1&2 students of the college to be facilitated by the old students and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
“Further to the above, we have donated a public address system to Layeni Hall and customised notebooks to the students,” he added.
President of the association, Alhaji Kazeem Adekunle Alaka, spoke on the theme of the anniversary, ‘My Alma Mater, Towards Relationships that Matter, and Friendships that last’.
He said, “In order to achieve your goals, especially the theme of the anniversary celebration, all members must imbibe the moral principles enumerated above. The 3P-theory of Peace, Progress and Prosperity is relevant here. No association can achieve greatness without first achieving peace.
“All members must work for peace to keep the Association intact and move ahead to the next level of Progress and Prosperity. You are a Chapter of diverse culture, intellect and affluence and these qualities should come to play in uniting you to the next level.
The National Executive Committee is indeed proud of your Chapter. It was turbulent, but the high seas had subsided and the ship/sailors have sailed ashore safely. We implore you to allow the peace and cooperation, with which you planned and executed this beautiful occasion to continue.”
