APC plans power-sharing formula for other NASS positions

APC plans power-sharing formula for other NASS positions

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken steps to avert a fresh crisis in the National Assembly over other principal positions to be contested as the lawmakers resume on Tuesday (today).

It was learnt that the party had struck a peace deal with contenders for some positions to douse the growing tension.

The deal is considered a win-win situation for all those jostling for the NASS positions.

The party, according to The Nation, is planning to write Senate President Godswill Akpabio and House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas today or tomorrow on the issue.

The source said the power-sharing formula in the Senate is as follows: Opeyemi Bamidele (Ekiti Central, Southwest, Senate Leader); Dave Umahi (Ebonyi South, Southeast, Deputy Senate Leader); Ali Ndume (Borno South, Northeast, Chief Whip) and Lola Ashiru (Kwara South, Northcentral, Deputy Chief Whip).
