Ex-Buhari aide, Bashir Ahmad, rejects APC primary result, alleges use of thugs

A former personal assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, has lost the House of Representatives primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in his constituency.

Ahmad, who hoped to represent Gaya/Ajingi/Albasu federal constituency, has, however, rejected the outcome of the primary citing thuggery as the reason.

Some of the constituencies are Fagge, Kano Municipal, Gaya-Ajingi-Albasu, Kumbotso, Kiru-Bebeji and Kura-Madobi-Garun Mallam.

Ahmad who contested to represent Gaya, Ajingi, Albasu Constituency alleged that thugs were used to hamper the peaceful conduct of the election, adding that he left the venue for the security of the delegates.

The incumbent member, Abdullahi Mahmood, Gaya was announced as the winner of the election.

“As an aspirant, I left the venue of primary election for Gaya, Ajingi and Albasu Federal Constituency, because of the security of the our majority delegates, if want to compete with the best, thugs shouldn’t be part of any election,” he said on Facebook and Twitter.

Similarly, contestants at the Kumbotso Constituency, Muhammad Auwal Sarari, rejected the result that saw the incumbent member of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Munir Babba DanAgundi as the winner.

Speaking to Freedom radio, Sarari said, “We are not satisfied with the election, in fact no election was held. They swapped the delegates and brought a new list that we don’t even know about. We have reported to INEC, APC and other relevant stakeholders for action.”

In a related development, Abba Ganduje, the son of the Kano State Governor, Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, won the primary election unopposed to secure the party’s ticket to represent Tofa-Rimin Gado-Dawakin Tofa Federal Constituency.

Abba, who declared interest for the contest a day to the Primary election, scored the total of 190 votes as contained in the election results.
