A zonal women leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Kemi Nelson, is dead.
Ms Nelson, the only female member of Bola Tinubu’s influential Governance Advisory Council in Lagos, died on Sunday morning, according to family sources.
She was said to have been unwell for a while, treating undisclosed ailments at different hospitals.
Ms Nelson was appointed as an executive director of Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019, a position she held until May 2021 when she was removed under unclear circumstances.
She was born on February 9, 1956, and schooled in Ijebu, Lagos and Ibadan; and was survived by her three children.
“She has been sick for over hree months. A lot of us who saw her at the APC functions some months back knew that something is wrong. She came, she saw and conquered. May God rest her soul,” a party chieftain said.
