Army Foils Terrorist Drone Attack on Military Base in Borno

Nigerian Army troops operating under Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have successfully repelled a terrorist drone attack on their position at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Molai in Delwa village, Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.

A senior source at Army Headquarters told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the incident occurred on December 16, when terrorists deployed four armed drones loaded with explosives against the military location. The drones were, however, neutralised by alert troops before causing any damage.

The source said exploitation operations were ongoing to trace the launch point of the drones and track down the perpetrators. He added that troops across Sectors 2, 3 and 4 of Operation Hadin Kai were sustaining intense offensive actions under Operation Desert Sanity IV.

In a related development, troops conducting Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) raided criminal hideouts and an illegal mining site at Rafin Bauna and Gero mountains in Plateau State on the same day, leading to the arrest of three suspects.

Recovered items included a locally fabricated rifle, one round of 7.62mm special ammunition, a generator, three shovels and water pipes. The suspects and recovered items are currently in military custody for further investigation.

Meanwhile, troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) rescued a kidnapped victim at Yelewata in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State. The victim, abducted from his shop in Gidan Waya, Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, was reportedly abandoned by the kidnappers after they sighted advancing troops.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to sustained offensives against terrorists, bandits and criminal elements across all theatres of operation, vowing to maintain pressure on armed groups threatening national security.
