Army, police dislodge suspected IPOB/ESN camp in Imo
The Imo State Police Command announced on Wednesday that a joint security task force successfully dislodged a suspected hideout of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), an armed wing of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), in Aku community, Okigwe Local Government Area, Imo State.
In a statement to journalists in Owerri, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Henry Okoye, detailed the operation, which involved the Army, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other security agencies.
According to the statement: “The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma, alongside other service commanders, urged residents to continue providing actionable intelligence to aid ongoing security operations targeting criminal elements in the state. This appeal followed a December 3, 2024, visit to assess the progress of joint security efforts in clearing a notorious hideout in Aku, Okigwe LGA, linked to the criminal group led by the ESN commander, ‘Gentle,’ and his team.”
