Ademola Lookman delivered a standout performance as Atalanta secured a 3-1 victory against Parma in an exciting away fixture on Saturday, consolidating their position in second place in Serie A.

The match began with a flourish as Mateo Retegui opened the scoring in the 4th minute. The Atalanta forward met a brilliant cross with a perfectly timed header, sending the ball into the left corner of the net, leaving the Parma goalkeeper helpless.

Lookman appeared to double Atalanta’s lead in the 9th minute following a deft pass from Mario Pasalic. The Nigerian international finished with a composed strike into the centre of the goal. However, celebrations were cut short after a VAR review ruled the goal out for offside.

Atalanta extended their lead in the 39th minute when Ederson capitalised on a precise pass from Matteo Ruggeri. With the goal at his mercy, Ederson calmly tapped the ball into the net, making it 2-0.

Drama unfolded in the 54th minute as Atalanta’s manager, Gian Piero Gasperini, was sent off after receiving a second yellow card, adding tension to the match.

Despite another goal by Lookman being disallowed in the 72nd minute for offside, the Nigerian finally found the net three minutes later.

Lookman received a superb pass, broke free of Parma’s defence, and slotted a clinical shot into the bottom left corner, sealing Atalanta’s 3-1 victory.

Atalanta’s win further cemented their Serie A title ambitions, with Lookman continuing to shine as a key figure in their campaign.
