Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar says has visited former President Olusegun Obasanjo over his bid to contest the 2023 presidential election.
He said he would soon publicly declare his intention.
He expressed confidence that he would win the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He had vied for the presidential seat in 2007, 2011 and 2019.
Speaking with newsmen after the meeting which lasted for an hour, the Waziri of Adamawa expressed confidence of winning the PDP presidential ticket.
“Have I ever failed to get the ticket? I’m confident,” he said.
When asked on call to allow emergence of younger presidential candidates, Atiku responded “Let the youth compete now. It is a competition. It’s democracy.” Daily Trust, Atiku said on this on Saturday when he spoke with journalists shortly after a closed-door meeting with Olusegun Obasanjo.
He was said to have arrived at the penthouse residence located within Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, Ogun state, at 10:10 am and went straight into a closed-door meeting with Obasanjo.
Raymond Dokpesi, PDP chieftain who heads Atiku’s presidential campaign technical committee, has been traversing the country to promote him to Nigerians.
Atiku and his team later held a meeting with Adedotun Gbadebo, paramount ruler of Egbaland, at the Ake palace.
