Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State has suspended business outlets from engaging in phone charging in the banditry-prone areas of the state.
Masari announced this on Monday while inaugurating the committee charged with the responsibility of monitoring and enforcing a recently introduced Executive Order 4 in the state.
Masari, while inaugurating the committee, which has Sanusi Buba, Commissioner of Police, as chairman and Mustapha Inuwa, Secretary to the State Government, as secretary, said the committee had been saddled with the responsibility of ensuring that its terms of reference were applied in the bid to restoring normalcy in the state.
The governor identified 19 local governments as the flashpoint areas where the committee would be expected to beam their searchlight.
The local governments named are Jibia, Batsari, Safana, Danmusa, Paskari, Sabuwa, Kurfi, Danja, Kaita, Bakori, Funtua, Kankara, Musawa, Matazu, Dutsima, Mai’adua, Malumfashi and Funtua.
Masari also said the state government would continue studying the predicament and bring further measures to help address the security challenges facing the state.
He further noted that other states within the North-West were also taking similar measures to simultaneously tame banditry in the zone.
