Some bandits have abducted the Emir of Kajuru, Alhassan Adamu, and 13 members of his family from his palace in the Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The bandits numbering over 200 reportedly invaded the emirate, firing gunshots, before proceeding to the emir’s palace and taking him and 13 members of his family away.
Three women, two of his grandchildren, three of his aides and five others were abducted.
Spokesman for the Kaduna State Police Command, Mohammed Jalige, confirming the incident, said it happened in the early hours of Sunday.
He said the second-class traditional ruler and the other victims were kidnapped from his residence.
He said a combined team comprising members of the police mobile force, operatives of operation Puff Adder and anti-kidnapping squad of the Kaduna State Police Command had launched a manhunt for the kidnappers.
A resident of the area said the bandits stormed the palace around 12.30 am, broke the palace gate to the palace and went straight into emir’s room for their victim.
“They kidnapped the emir, his daughter and four grandchildren. The bandits also entered three other houses and abducted nine people including a nursing mother,” he said.
This is coming a few days after the abduction of 121 students of Bethel Baptist school in the Chikun LGA.
