Gunmen suspected to be bandits invaded a mosque at Tella town in the Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State, abducting four worshippers.
Daily Trust quoted a resident of Tella, Suleiman Rabiu, sayings that the gunmen, about 12 in number, surrounded the mosque at about 7.12pm on Wednesday and abducted worshipers who were observing Isha’i prayer.
The source said the gunmen after disrupting the prayer session, led out the worshipers from the Mosque at gunpoint.
The gunmen, the source, said later released one person and took the remaining to an unknown location.
Among those abducted are Alhaji Yahaya, Aminu Dali and Alhaji Hussaini, who is chairman of grain dealers in the area.
Resident of Gassol area are under attacks from gunmen suspected to be bandits that relocated from Zamfara state into the area following military onslaught.
Within the last three weeks, more than 25 persons, mostly traders and farmers, have been abducted.
Spokesperson for the Taraba police command, DSP Usman Abdullahi, confirmed the incident but did not give details.
