Bandits kidnap former local govt chairman in Kebbi, burn his car
Umar Namashaya Diggi, the former Chairman of Kalgo Local Government Area in Kebbi State, has been abducted after an attack by unidentified assailants along the Birnin Kebbi-Diggi Road.
The incident occurred on Monday, February 17 around 12:30 am while Diggi was en route to his village from Birnin Kebbi. Reports say he was pursued by an unknown vehicle and forced to stop upon reaching Gayi village.
The assailants then set his Toyota Corolla (registration number KLG 637 AA) on fire before fleeing the scene. Diggi’s current whereabouts remain unknown.

Security forces who arrived at the scene recovered items, including a lighter, a stick, and a container with a fuel-like smell, believed to have been used during the attack.
A full-scale investigation has been launched by security operatives to determine Diggi’s fate and identify those responsible. The Kebbi State Police Command has also confirmed the incident.
