Bandits have attacked Tegina town in the Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State, killing 22 people and abducting 20 others.
It was gathered that the bandits invaded the main Tegina town shooting sporadically, making people to scamper for safety.
A security source said everyone was running for cover from shots by the bandits.
Some other sources confirmed the development, stating the bandits have taken over Tegina-Zungeru-Minna road stopping vehicles and attacking them.
Calls made to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) were unanswered.
